The Process

Six Months in the Making

Every part of this process is slow, intentional, and unfolds beautifully over time. José Antonio Álvarez spent half a year bringing these specialty silver-nickel gong plates into existence from September 2025 until February 2026.

September 2025

The Vision Arrives

In meditation, the form reveals itself. José begins calculating dimensions using tantric numerology and sacred geometry. Every measurement carries intention.

Fall 2025

Material Discovery

Months of testing alloys. Bronze, copper, various nickel ratios. Finally: silver-nickel, chosen for its clarity and sustain. The prototypes begin to sing.

Winter 2026

The Forging

In his Spanish workshop, José hand-hammers thirty-five plates. Every strike is meditation. Each patina emerges organically—no two alike.

February 2026

They're Ready

Six months of work culminates. Thirty-five gong plates enter the world. The next batch won't begin until October 2026.

No Two Are Alike

Each gong plate develops its own patina during forging. The colors, patterns, surface character—all unique. You can't order a specific one. You get the one that's meant for you.

The Master

José Antonio Álvarez

José was a yoga and breathwork teacher when he first encountered a gong in a sound journey. The experience changed his trajectory. He traveled across Europe and the United States studying under gongmasters, collecting instruments, leading sessions.

Eventually, he started building. Not to replicate what existed, but to create instruments that carry intention from the first meditation to the final strike. These gong plates were made exclusively for The Ohm Store—a collaboration born from shared respect for craft and sound.
