Meet, The Blood Moon Eclipse.

A limited edition singing bowl in our hand-painted Spring Series.

When the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, the moon doesn't go dark, it goes red. This is the spirit and idea that animated the artwork on this bowl. 

An 8-inch bell metal bronze singing bowl, hand-painted to capture the eclipse at totality: the blood moon in full crimson, ringed by the solar corona, suspended in a hand-dotted star field against a deep matte-black void.

The Blood Moon Eclipse produces a fundamental tone in the third octave. Above that fundamental, the bowl generates a mid-range partial that carries its primary voice, and a high-frequency shimmer. 

The exterior is undecorated matte black. Unadorned. The inside is where the it comes alive. 

At the center is the moon in totality, burning crimson and ochre, its surface marked with shadow brushwork that traces the umbra's edge.

Around it, a ring of luminous gold, the solar corona, exposed only in these rare moments when the moon blocks everything else. Beyond that, the atmosphere bleeds outward. 

The painting process begins with the base oxidation that produces the matte black ground. From there, the corona ring is laid down before the atmospheric gradient, and the star field is dotted last, by hand, one point at a time. 

This bowl ships with everything you need to play: a handmade hardwood striker wrapped in suede for rim work and sustained overtone production, and a matching ring cushion.
