A Simple, Beautiful Story Behind This Felt Mistletoe
This mistletoe was handmade in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal by a small, women-run felting cooperative.
Every leaf and every little white “berry” is created completely by hand.
To make it, the craftswomen follow a four step process
Felt the wool by hand, gently shaping it until it becomes soft, yet strong enough to hold shape.
Cut every leaf one at a time, so each piece has its own organic shape.
Roll each tiny wool bead between their palms to form the berries.
Tie and stitch everything together into a full, sculptural bundle that hangs beautifully.
Felt-making is a traditional craft in Nepal, practiced for generations in the Himalayan regions. We are glad to support the crafts-women of Nepal.
