Introducing the Circle Gong Plate. Crafted by José Antonio Álvarez X The Ohm Store in Spain.
A round sound plate, 11 inches in diamter, forged from the same silver-nickel alloy as The Gongs, Triangles and Plates of the Jose Antonio Alvarez creations for Ohm Store.
This is the first release, and 35 are available.
The colors are "fire patina" done with a torch; no two will look exactly the same.
The Sound Of These Instruments...
The circle sounds will grow deeper than a gong plate. Truly, a mini-gong experience.
When invited with a felt covered mallet, the sound swells for a moment and then settles into one round, deep tone.
On our aluminum mallet, you'll bring out the brighter timbre of the circle. An instrument to expand your dynamic range of possibilties in your sound creations.
The process...
Only a handful of European foundries can produce silver-nickel needed for any of these instruments, so these instruments began with our ordering in Spring 2026.
The items are received as specialty flat plate; with no working, they sound simply hollow, tinny. It is the fire patina, heat, and hammering married with the special alloy that brings these to life as true instruments worthy of consideraiton.
What you will receive...
One circle gong plate, 11″ in diameter and about 0.1″ thick.
Made from Silver-nickel alloy. Each circle's aesthetic with vary slightly, according to the fire patina applied to that particular item.
It comes with three mallets (aluminum, beech wood, and a soft felt mallet), each to bring a unique spectrum out of the Circle.
The hanging cord is included and it will come in a specialty box -The Ohm Store presentation box.
Complete the set.
The circle gives you a bountiful and deep, round note with 30 seconds of sustain. Add the Gong Plate for a brighter, bell-like tone with a second overtone singing along, and the Triangle for a silver-shimmer-sparkle on top. José made all three from the same silver-nickel as complements to one another.
This is the first chance to own one of these.
These arrived in the USA last week and are being checked and moved to our final small warehouse.
