27 Inch Bronze Gong Handmade In Nepal One of One 0013
Gong 13 — 27 Inch Hand-Hammered Nepali Temple Gong One of a Kind
Nepali temple gongs are hand-hammered in the Kathmandu Valley by bronze craftsmen specialists.
This one is 27 inches across, hammered from a bronze in the bell-metal family, patinated dark, and finished with a full iconography that is unique to this one gong.
The central feature of this gong is a lotus framed by two opposing dragons.
A lotus blossom sits in the middle of the field, with two dragons curving around it from opposite sides.
The dragons face inward toward the lotus and each other, surrounded by pearl-like dots and curling cloud or flame ornament. The outer field is framed by concentric rings, a geometric band, and a broad floral border.
The tone here is a deep G2 held as the main voice, with C3 and C#3 partials above it and a brighter D#4 that gives the opening strike extra color.
Played with a soft mallet it opens with a low foundation and a more animated upper layer, then darkens as the higher partials fade and the G2 remains.
The character is low and complex, with the C3 and C#3 partials creating movement against the fundamental before the sustain settles into a darker body.
Playing will favor a single clean strike and a controlled roll that lets the dragon-like movement in the upper partials appear without overwhelming the bass.
It sounds like a different instrument depending on how you choose to play it.
At The Ohm Store every instrument is selected as a resonator first and a visual object second.
There is only one gong available like this, and you're receiving the exact gong that's pictured and recorded here.
This gong does not include a gong stand.
