This is a 27 Inch Hand-Painted Nepali Temple Gong One of a Kind, featuring the Brilliant Dragon Motif.
Nepali temple gongs are hand-hammered in the Kathmandu Valley by bronze craftsmen specialists.
This one is 27 inches across, hammered from a bronze in the bell-metal family, patinated dark, and finished with a full iconography that is unique to this one gong.
The central feature of this gong is a hand-painted red dragon rising from stylized blue waves.
A detailed red dragon with golden scales and fiery accents fills the center of the field, set against a golden cloud-patterned background.
The dragon reaches upward from a base of blue and white crashing waves and rugged mountains.
The surrounding border is built from tight concentric rings of vibrant green, blue, and red, detailed with gold script, traditional symbols, and a broad outer pattern of repeating colorful motifs.
The tone here is a deep G#2 held as the dominant tone, with A3 and E4 partials above it that add shimmer without taking over the low center.
Played with a soft mallet it blooms gradually, with a wide low sustain and a brighter middle layer that appears early before falling away.
The character is dark, even, and spacious, with the G#2 remaining present through the decay while the higher partials give the opening a mandala-like spread.
Playing will favor a single clean strike and a slow roll that lets the lower tone gather in a steady circle. It sounds like a different instrument depending on how you choose to play it.
At The Ohm Store every instrument is selected as a resonator first and a visual object second.
There is only one gong available like this, and you are receiving the exact gong that is pictured and recorded here.
This gong does not include a gong stand, but you may reserve one here.
