The Purity Bowl is cast from bronze and hand-hammered in Kathmandu by the same craftsmen the Ohm Store has worked with since 2015. No two are identical — the weight, the sound, the texture of the surface all carry the specificity of the hands that made it.
The exterior is hand-etched with the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum — one of the most widely used mantras in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, associated with compassion and the purification of mind, body, and speech. It circles the bowl continuously, so no matter how you hold it, the mantra is present.
The imperfections of the hand-hammering process are not incidental. They create the slight mass asymmetries that cause the bowl's vibrational modes to split — producing the beating frequencies that drive brainwave entrainment. The bowl's beauty and its therapeutic mechanism are the same thing.
