A LIMITED RELEASE · OCTOBER 2026
THE OHM STORE PRESENTS
The Origen
Collection
A new collection of hand-forged gongs, created exclusively for The Ohm Store.
OHM STORE EXCLUSIVE · BY JOSÉ ANTONIO ÁLVAREZ
Two voices.
One origin.
The Origen Collection brings together two original gong designs, each created exclusively for The Ohm Store and offered in two sizes. Only five of each size will be available.
Each one is individually hand-forged, shaped, rested and finished by José Antonio Álvarez. No production run will ever be identical to another, and once these instruments are spoken for, this collection will be complete.

01 / ORIGEN
The Origen Collection brings together two exceptional silver-nickel gongs — each individually formed, hammered, rested, and tuned by ear by master gong maker José Antonio Álvarez.
Only 20 gongs will be available in this release. Join the waitlist for priority access before the collection is released publicly.
Waitlist members will be the first invited to shop the new release.
02 / THE EXPERIENCE
Open a field of sound
Strike a singing bowl and you can feel its resonance gather around a particular point.
Strike a gong and something different happens.
A single strike can release a vast field of frequencies — deep fundamentals, clear harmonics, shimmering upper partials — that continue to change, evolve, and journey.
The sound is not simply heard from one direction. It surrounds you.
For sound baths, meditation, yoga, breathwork and performance, this creates an entirely different kind of instrument: one capable of filling a space with vibration rather than simply producing a tone.
And for those who already love singing bowls, it opens an entirely new sonic dimension.
A bowl can become a point of focus. A gong can become the space itself.
03 / THE MATERIAL
Experience the sonic character of this specialty alloy
The Origen gongs begin as something surprisingly simple:
A flat sheet of silver-nickel.
This specialty alloy — approximately 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc — is produced by a limited number of foundries capable of creating this particular material.
The raw sheets arrive months before the making of the instruments begins.
From there, the material undergoes a process that cannot be rushed.
The edge is carefully burned into a precisely aligned ring. The metal is cooled. And then it begins to be transformed.
Why silver-nickel?
Because it produces a distinctive sonic character: bright, clear, crystalline and expansive, with a remarkable capacity for sustain.
Where traditional bronze tends toward a warmer, more familiar gong voice, silver-nickel can reveal a brilliant upper register alongside deep, resonant fundamentals.
It is a material chosen not simply for how it looks — but for how it responds when struck.
04 / THE MAKING
Appreciate the craft of the gongmaster
This is our 7th collaboration with José Antonio Álvarez, an incredible Gong Master, whose work goes beyond building incredible instruments, but is intended to transmit frequency and intention through form.
There are no shortcuts in this transformational process from sheet metal to musical instrument with its unique voice.
The process moves through cycles of hammering, listening, resting, returning.
Rest is not an interruption in the process. The metal is given time to settle into its new shape before José works it again.
Every hammer mark alters the tension and behavior of the surface. Every contour influences how vibration travels across the instrument.
And slowly, through thousands of deliberate decisions, a flat sheet of metal becomes something capable of singing.
The marks left by the hammer are the evidence of the making. The instrument is not manufactured into perfection. It is brought into resonance by a maker who knows when to continue — and when to stop.
05 / THE FREQUENCY
From fundamental
to shimmer
The Origen gongs produce a remarkably broad spectrum of sound — approximately 20 Hz to 12 kHz.
A powerful initial strike can contain deep fundamentals alongside tonal harmonics and complex inharmonic partials.
You experience the evolution of sound as low frequencies establish a foundation, harmonics give the sound structure, while higher partials shimmer above.
20 HZ FOUNDATION
12K HZ SHIMMER
60 SECONDS OF SUSTAIN
And as the initial impact fades, the instrument can continue resonating for up to 60 seconds.
03 / THE MAKER
Meet José Antonio Álvarez
Before he became a gong maker, José was a teacher of yoga and breathwork.
His relationship with the gong began during a sound journey — an experience that changed the direction of his life.
He began studying the instrument deeply, traveling throughout Europe and the United States to learn from accomplished gong masters, collecting exceptional instruments and leading sound journeys across Spain. Eventually, he began making them himself.
Not simply because he wanted to manufacture gongs. Because he wanted to understand how to translate what he had experienced through sound into physical form.
His work today is found in the hands of musicians, therapists, spiritual practitioners and sound professionals.
But the Origen Collection represents something more personal to The Ohm Store. These instruments were born from a collaboration between José and The Ohm Store, beginning with a shared vision and brought into physical form through José's distinctive approach to the craft.
They were made specifically for our community.

07 / YOUR PRACTICE
An instrument for expanding your practice
Perhaps you already have a collection of singing bowls. Perhaps you lead sound baths, teach yoga or breathwork. Perhaps you're a musician.
Or perhaps you simply know, the moment you hear one, that you want a gong in your space.
The Origen Collection is designed to meet all of those possibilities.
Its broad sonic field makes it naturally suited to immersive environments and group experiences. Its long sustain gives a practitioner enormous room to work with sound. And its complexity rewards repeated listening.
The more you play it, the more you begin to hear.
01
A gong doesn't replace the singing bowl. It expands what is possible around it.
02
Where a bowl can create intimacy, the gong can create scale.
03
Where a bowl can focus attention, the gong can open the field.
04
Together, they create an entirely different sonic vocabulary.

09 / RARITY
Made for lovers of slow craft
There is a reason these instruments will not be available in unlimited quantities.
The material itself is specialized. The making process is slow. Each instrument requires José's individual attention.
And the final voice cannot be separated from the time and judgment involved in creating it.
Which makes these instruments inherently rare; when they are gone, they are gone.
